In order to ensure optimal performance of your hydraulic operations, it’s critical that every part is fit-for-purpose. Because of this, Domin Valves are fully configurable to each applications’ exacting needs, ensuring precision and reliability.

Whether you are in aerospace, industrial automation, or mobile machinery, we offer a streamlined, customer-centric process to help you build a custom valve that delivers the performance your need.

In this blog, we’ll guide you through the process of building a Domin valve and highlight the key variables that you can adjust to suit your specific application.

One, Valve Type

Choose The Right Valve For Your Application

The first step in designing your custom valve is selecting the appropriate Domin valve for your application. Our valves are engineered to meet a wide range of flow rates and pressure conditions. For example:

The S4 Pro is ideal for small, highly precise applications where control and accuracy are paramount.

The S6 Pro caters to higher flow requirements, making it suitable for demanding industrial applications that require robust performance.

The S10 Pro is applied in high flow applications with demanding environments that require durability and reliability.

Two: Rated Flow

Rated Flow: Tailored for Precision

We offer a wide flow range that spans from 0.5 to 250 litres per minute, all rated at a 70-bar pressure drop. This flexibility allows for a tailored approach that meets the specific requirements of your system.

For example, if your system demands precision control, we can tune the rated flow to the nearest decimal point within this range. This ensures that your valve provides the exact performance necessary for your hydraulic system, whether you need fine adjustments for delicate tasks or high-volume flow for industrial machinery.

Spool Lap Condition

Spool Lap Condition: Fine-Tuning Control Response

The spool lap condition plays a significant role in how your valve reacts to control inputs. Domin offers several standard spool lap options:

Axis cut, which is one of the most popular choices among our customer base for its consistent performance.

Overlap options range from 3% to 10%, depending on your needs for smoothness and responsiveness. These choices allow you to fine-tune the valve’s control characteristics, making it ideal for applications where specific responses to input changes are critical.

Control Input

Control Input and Output: Seamless Electrical Integration

Domin valves are equipped with electrical feedback and onboard electronics, simplifying integration into modern hydraulic systems. All you need is a 24V power supply and a standard input/output interface.

Control options include:

  • +/- 10 volts, or
  • 4 to 20 milliamps, giving you the flexibility to choose what best fits your control system.

This allows for seamless integration with various control architectures, ensuring that the valve responds precisely to your electrical signals.

Electrical Connection

Connector Options: Flexibility and Compatibility

Another key aspect of configuring your valve is choosing the right connector. We provide industry-standard connectors that ensure compatibility with most systems. Common options include:

  • 4-pin hard-mounted connectors.
  • 6-pin plus PE connectors for added flexibility.

Additionally, we offer a fly-in lead option if your system demands more customised electrical connections. These standard options simplify the installation and maintenance of your valve, ensuring a seamless fit with your existing infrastructure.

Enable Mode: Simple and Efficient

Some systems require an enable signal, which is essentially a simple yes or no option. If your setup requires this, you can easily configure it into your Domin valve.

This feature provides an additional layer of control, allowing operators to manage when the valve is active, further enhancing safety and operational flexibility.

Fluid Type

Fluid Type: Standard and Beyond

Most hydraulic systems operate with standard red oil, and Domin valves are designed to accommodate this as a default. However, if your application requires specialised fluids, we can work with you to design a solution tailored to your needs.

Whether you’re working with alternative hydraulic fluids or oils for extreme environments, we are capable of providing custom solutions to ensure your valve performs flawlessly.

Seal Material: Durability and Resistance

Seal materials are another vital consideration when building your custom valve. Standard options include:

  • Nitrile, known for its oil resistance and durability.
  • Viton, which offers enhanced resistance to high temperatures and aggressive fluids.

Selecting the right seal material ensures your valve will operate reliably, even in demanding conditions. This is especially important for applications exposed to varying temperatures or corrosive substances.

Your Custom ID

Once all of the above customisations have been made, you will have your custom Domin Valve ID that works to your specific requirements. Over the years, we’ve collaborated with numerous customers to develop bespoke valves for specialised applications.

If you have a project with requirements outside of our standard offerings, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re always excited to explore new challenges and help you achieve optimal system performance.

At Domin, we aim to make valve customisation simple and accessible while maintaining the highest standards of quality and precision. Our configurable valves offer flexibility across a range of flow rates, spool conditions, control inputs, and more, making it easy for you to build a valve that fits your exact application.
