Are you ready to push the boundaries of innovation and spearhead the future of our production? Join Domin, a global leader in cutting-edge motion control technologies to disrupt the hydraulics industry.

Domin valve sales are doubling year on year, with current manufacturing processes set to hit a ceiling of around 4,000 valves per year. To ensure delivery to its customers Domin is heavily investing in a world class production facility to produce 50,000 valves per year and align with their vision to transform motion control. This will be achieved through focus on three simple concepts: process control, common standards and semi-automation.

We are seeking a driven and ambitious manufacturing engineer to join our team to design and develop our core processes of 3D metal printing, milling, turning, grinding, EDM, assembly and test. The manufacturing engineer will be responsible for new process design (for volume manufacture) and continuous improvement of existing processes development.

A successful candidate will play a vital role in the development of our brand-new production facility in the Bristol area, helping to create capable manufacturing processes and innovative solutions to engineering problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating manufacturing process requirements and specification.
  • Developing predictable manufacturing processes using preventative, predictive, active, and informative controls.
  • Running a tender process for new machines.
  • Facilitate good design for manufacturability by collaborating with the product design team.
  • Working with suppliers and integrators to develop robust manufacturing processes.
  • Defining requirements for factory and site acceptance tests for new machines and managing / taking ownership until completion.
  • Design of fixtures for process improvement and medium-volume manufacturing
  • CNC programming for medium volume manufacturing.
  • Cutting tool selection and running machining trials.
  • Create and maintain PFMEAs for our core manufacturing processes.

Essential Requirements:

  • Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Highly competent in manufacturing in at least one of our core processes; 3D metal printing, milling, turning, grinding, EDM, assembly and test.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing capability by process.
  • Solid foundation in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Ability to work with digital tools, including high computer literacy and familiarity with Office 365 and databases.
  • Organised and detail oriented with strong and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in setting up new processes.
  • Proficient in using a CAD package.
  • Previous success in developing robust manufacturing processes for medium volume production.
  • Experience using Lean and Six-Sigma techniques.

Beneficial Requirements:

  • Qualification in Lean or Six Sigma.
  • Prior experience in new product introduction (NPI) from product engineering into production.
  • Exposure to hydraulics industry.
  • Understanding of all elements in setting up a new process; requirements, specification, concept design, detailed design, FAT and SAT requirements, procurement, trials, Installation, bring up and integration into the production line.
  • Assembly and test familiarity.
  • Experience in factory design.
  • CNC programming experience, creating programs to machine difficult materials and achieve single digit micron tolerances.
  • Able to create PFMEA’s, score effectively and identify recommended actions.
