We are looking for an experienced Wire EDM Machine Operator to help set up, run and operate wire EDM machines; the opportunity is unique as this new facility brings devices back into the UK production.  

In the early stages, we would need the operator to help set the standards for machine tools, checks and processes, and ongoing improvements flagged with the manufacturing and quality teams.   

Essential Requirements:

• 3 or more years of experience running Wire EDM or similar machines (CNC, EDM, ECM machines) and working in a production environment
• Experience operating industrial machinery, which can include a band saw, sander, heat treat oven, laser marker, sand blaster
• Able to use and demonstrate the use of gauges, lineside measurement equipment 
• Experience in checking and setting up CNC machines; this includes daily and weekly checks and setting up on the machine’s different parts
• Able to understand part drawings and work instructions and interpret them for each component 

Beneficial Requirements:

• Has completed an apprenticeship  
• Can edit programs on the machine for any of the following Wire EDM, 5axis Mill, 4axis Mill, CNC lathe, wire EDM, AM machine 
• Can program offline on the following Wire EDM, 5axis Mill, 4axis Mill, CNC lathe, wire EDM, and AM machine.  
• Has 5s understanding  
• Has Lean understanding 

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate CNC Machines (Some or all depending on experience, with training given for other machine types as and when required) – milling, turning, grinding, EDM, Additive manufacture  
• Experience operating industrial machinery, which can include a band saw, sander, heat treat oven, laser marker, sand blaster 
• Use and calibrate inspection gauging on and off the machine 
• Set up the machine for specific operations, including the right tools, setting tools and inputting offsets
• Performing set-up and calibration procedures for all equipment and accessories 
• Set tolerance levels and cutting speeds 
• Reading part drawings and work instructions for producing parts and inspection requirements
